Though Travancore, the princely state in the southern most part of India was not notorious for child marriage, there were occurrences. It had its repercussions in almost all the parts of India including Travancore. They targeted child marriage and introduced various laws to suppress it and one among them was the Sarada Act of 1929, which can be considered as a culmination of all. The colonial government had introduced various social legislations for the benefit of Indians. In the past, it was so much that it affected the life of young children, leading the girls to be widows and to early motherhood. Child marriage can be considered as the most important issue children face even now, especially in India.
